WARRIORS CENTRAL – NEW NASP ARCHERY CLUB

by Dr. Amy Martell - September 17, 2024

The Canton Jr/Sr High school principal, Mr. Donnie Jacopetti, is happy to announce there is a new club in Warrior Country and it is the archery club. CHS has a club period at the end of the day in order to provide time for students and staff to have time in the day for connecting with students in a non-academic way. The club period was started in 2019 in order to achieve this goal. There are a variety of activities that students can participate in like Intramurals, Spanish Club, Ping Pong, Cooking, History, Art, Trivia, Podcasting, and many more.
The Archery Club is sponsored by the National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP). The club advisor is Mrs. Brandy McRoberts, Social Studies Teacher at CHS. Mrs. McRoberts leads both the junior and senior high archery clubs at CHS which totals nearly thirty student members!
NASP provides rigorous training for program leaders which Mrs. McRoberts is scheduled to attend in the upcoming months. She has been certified by NASP in the past and is looking forward to the refresher training.
Club participation occurs every other school day for thirty minute sessions. As we begin the initial implementation of the program at CHS, we are focused on safety and education about understanding of the equipment. As students continue with the program, our hope is that they could eventually enter archery competitions both locally and nationally.
