Tioga County Flood Update | Following August 15, 2024

Flood Debby on Friday August 9th, 2024 severely damaged portions of the Cowanesque Valley in Tioga County, particularly the Westfield, Knoxville and Potter Brook areas. Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency deployed an Incident Management Team to Tioga County on August 13, 2024 to support recovery operations. This includes a cadre of specialists trained in disaster response and recovery operations. The team consists of personnel from PEMA, State Police, Dept. of Corrections, Dept. of Health and DCNR. The deployment will last until August 22nd, unless extended.

INFORMATION
Officials in Tioga County have set up a Multi-Agency Resource Center (MARC) to assist individuals, families and businesses affected by severe flooding and damage from the remnants of Hurricane Debby.
The MARC will be located at Cowanesque Valley High School, 51 N. Fork Rd., Westfield, PA 16950. Hours of operation are as follows:
Friday, Aug. 16: 12 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Saturday, Aug. 17: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

COMMUNITY MEETING
A Community Meeting has been scheduled for Friday, August 16th, 2024 at 6:30 p.m. in the auditorium
of the Cowanesque Valley High School at 51 N. Fork Road in Westfield, PA. A recording of the meeting will be posted on the Tioga County Commissioners Facebook page “Tioga County PA Commissioners” for those not able to attend.

TIOGA COUNTY DISASTER SUPPORT TEAM
If you know of anyone who may need to speak with someone about the stress related to the flooding issues, please reach out the Tioga Co Disaster Support Team. They specialize in psychological first aid, advocacy education and intervention. Call: (570) 724-4666

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
Volunteers are welcome to help with the clean-up activities.

DEBRIS REMOVAL (WESTFIELD)
Place all debris close to the curb.
Please separate: lawn debris (limbs, stumps, etc.) & household items and other waste.

DONATIONS
The donation center at the Cowanesque High School has been closed. Donations are being accepted and are available at the Westfield Borough Office/Crary Hose Department. Donations are also being accepted and are available at the Knoxville/Deerfield Fire Department. Needed items included: trash cans, totes, fans, tarps, push brooms, toilet paper, paper towels, new towels, new bedsheets, gift cards and rubber boots. No furniture or clothing is being accepted at either location at this time!

MONETARY DONATIONS
Tioga County is collecting monetary donations to be distributed by county officials. Monies can be donated to:
