WARRIORS CENTRAL: KCFCA Sponsored TAB WARS

by Dr. Amy Martell - September 27, 2024

Overview of the sponsoring organization: Kids Can’t Fight Cancer Alone is a 501(c)(3) charity organization made up of seven board members with sub-committees as needed, that supports families in Bradford, Tioga and Sullivan Counties of PA who have a child with a diagnosis of a childhood cancer, from notification to remission and beyond. And sadly, through internment, if needed. All funds raised stay locally and Kids Can’t Fight Cancer Alone is 100% volunteer.
KCFCA offers 2 scholarships per year: Kids Can’t Fight Cancer Alone, Inc. is proud to continue our initiative benefitting pediatric present or former cancer patients and their siblings! Welcome to Tab Wars: This is a competition between Canton and Troy School Districts. For our third consecutive year, during the month of October, both the Canton and Troy School Districts will be collecting aluminum can tabs (soda, beer, Pringles, pet food, etc.) in a challenge to see which district can collect the most, by weight, by October 25, 2024. The winner will be announced at halftime during the Old Shoe Game at Alperon Park, home field of the Troy Trojans, on October 25, 2024 and will be awarded the coveted TAB WARS plaque. The two districts come together for the organization Kids Can’t Fight Cancer Alone and the Ronald McDonald House in Danville. Troy currently holds the 2023 Tab Wars trophy in their Administrative Offices.

Why collect tabs? All tabs collected will be weighed and transported and donated to the Ronald McDonald House in Danville, Pennsylvania. The Ronald McDonald house in Danville has been providing a “home-away-from-home” for thousands of families with children that are faced with critically ill children. The House provides families with a support system and serves families from 65 of 67 counties in Pennsylvania, 37 states and 27 countries! The Ronald McDonald House then turns the collected Tabs into a recycling center for revenue to support their mission.
What can I do to support the Canton Area School District in winning the ‘Tab War?”
Everyone seeing this, think of all the people you know and CALL THEM IMMEDIATELY and encourage them to save tabs for us through the month of October. They can be dropped off at the Canton High School, Elementary School, and Thompson Sports and Apparel. Support the Warriors, KCFCA, and the Ronald McDonald House!!
The 2024 TAB WARS will be dedicated to the Ronald McDonald House to recognize the amazing, selfless dedication and service they provide to children with cancer and their families. A representative from the Ronald McDonald House will attend the Old Shoe halftime announcement as well. Most importantly, KCFCA would like to thank the districts and the communities for once again supporting the Ronald McDonald House and Kids Can’t Fight Cancer Alone in the 2024 TAB WARS.
