Canton Area School District would like to welcome students and staff back to school for the student first day of the 2024-2025 school year on Monday August 26, 2024. We hope you’ve had a wonderful summer break, filled with relaxation, rejuvenation, and new experiences.
Looking ahead, there’s so much to be excited about for the 2024-2025 school year. We have several innovative projects and initiatives in the pipeline that will further enhance our students’ learning experiences and our educational practices.

WELCOME NEW STAFF
We’re thrilled to welcome several new faces to our Canton family this year. Each of them bring unique talents and fresh perspectives that will undoubtedly enrich our educational community. We look forward to the positive impact they will make and the relationships that you will build with colleagues and students alike.

New Teachers 2024-2025
Kasey Lyon – Family & Consumer Sciences Teacher – Mr. Lyon is a 2008 graduate of Canton High School. He has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Graphic Design and has earned his teaching credentials with the American Board for the Certification of Teacher Excellence (ABCTE) program from Point Park University. He has served our school in many capacities over the past few years including being a Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) through Friendship House, an Extended School Year (ESY) Paraprofessional and Teacher, as well as being our Junior High Wrestling coach for the past three years. In his downtime, he enjoys going to restaurants, attending art exhibits with his wife, and spending time with his three children. Welcome Kasey!

Abi Voth – Spanish/English Teacher – Mrs. Voth is a 2017 graduate of Canton High School and has recently earned her Bachelor of Science from Indiana Wesleyan University. While Abi is a new teacher, she transitioned to this position from being a Paraprofessional supporting our students at Canton High School. In her downtime, she enjoys reading, baking, hiking and spending time with family. Welcome Abi!

Carmya Martell – 3rd grade Teacher – Miss Martell is a 2021 graduate of Canton High School, and recently earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary and Early Childhood Education from Penn State University. While this will be her first teaching position, she is already a familiar face at Canton Elementary School as she has been a substitute teacher there for the past two years. In her downtime, she enjoys playing volleyball, reading and baking. Welcome Carmya!

Cassie Howard – 5th grade Teacher – Mrs. Howard has been in education for nineteen years. She has taught third and fifth grade in the Port Allegany School District and is looking forward to meeting her new students and parents. She is already getting to know what it is like in Canton Elementary School. She has been working to get her room ready for the first day of school! She enjoys reading, going for walks, exercising, and spending time with her children.

We can’t wait to see all of you on our first day of school to kick off what we know will be an incredible school year. Let’s approach this year with enthusiasm, optimism, and a shared commitment to excellence in all we do.
